On Friday 13th September 2024, the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent, E Comp. James Sharpley accompanied by the Deputy Grand Superintendent E Comp. David Hampton; the Provincial Grand Scribe E, E Comp, David Broomer; the Provincial Deputy Director of Ceremonies, Jason Roberts and the Past Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies and member of the James Terry Chapter No2301 under the Danish Constitution, E Comp. Paul Ostwind enjoyed a wonderful weekend of masonic ceremony and camaraderie.
We all met with our hosts on Friday at Restaurant 1733 to enjoy a Danish Smorgasbord with plenty of liquid refreshment to accompany the sumptuous seafood and meats. An excellent start to the weekend with more to come.
On Saturday morning, our intrepid travellers arrived at the Residence of the Danish Order of Freemasons, Blegdamsvej 23, København, “the Big House” to be greeted by the Pro First Grand Principal, E Comp. John Harbo and escorted to the changing area where we met up with our counterparts and friends. The Grand Chapter of Demark Annual Convocation commenced at midday and was extremely well conducted by the Pro First Grand Principal; accompanied by the 2 nd Grand Principal, E Comp. Bo Holm; the 3rd Grand Principal, E Comp. Michael Strandberg; the Deputy Pro First Grand Principal, E Comp. Flemming Iversen. The meeting was conducted in Danish but as our Danish is a little rusty, it is surprising just how much we could all understand! We were treated to a wonderful ceremony and the whole meeting was thoroughly enjoyable.
Following the meeting the Companions enjoyed a wine reception followed by a very convivial festive board consisting of a Norwegian Prawn Salad followed by a Chicken Fricassee, New Potatoes & Summer Vegetables.
Another excellent occasion celebrating the second meeting of the Supreme Grand Chapter of Denmark and one that will be repeated for many years to come, cementing the close relationship between Hertfordshire and Denmark.
David J Hampton
