Renowned across the globe for his virtuosity and versatility, Richard Hills is equally at home at the consoles of the largest pipe organs whether in cathedral, concert hall or cinema.
He held Organ Scholarships at Exeter College Oxford, Portsmouth Cathedral and Westminster Abbey before embarking on a freelance career combining performance, conducting and teaching.
He was named ‘Organist of the Year’ by the American Theatre Organ Society and regularly appears on national and international radio and TV.
In 2013, he performed the Light Organ Prom, broadcast live on BBC Radio 3, and returned again as soloist in the 2015 season of the BBC Proms. Richard’s solo debut at the Royal Festival Hall was in 2019.
Richard returns to the Grand Temple to play a diverse and lively programme on Wednesday 14 th June, with works by Arthur Sullivan, Eric Coates, Billy Mayerl, Edward German and more. Cameras trained on the console will ensure the audience feel very much part of this exciting experience.
