On Saturday 6th July at Concord Chapter, the MEGS, E Comp James Sharpley awarded E Comp David Hance his Certificate of Service to Royal Arch Masonry for all his dedicated and long service to the Royal Arch in general and Hertfordshire in particular.
Initiated into Salisbury Union Lodge No 767 on Saturday 28th October 1978, a notable day as who remembers the nol hit in the UK, “Summer Nights” by Olivia Newton-John & John Travolta. He was passed on 23d June 1979 and raised on 26th June 1980 and became the WM on 1st June 1986 and again on 28th June 2006. Over the ensuing years’, he has held a succession of Offices including DC twice in 2005-2006 and 2010-2013. In 2008, he became a joining member of Wineslai Lodge No 2435, Bucks, in 2008, in which he was WM in 2017. He is also a Tyler to two Lodges.
In the Royal Arch, he was Exalted in Concord Chapter No 767 on 26th March 1983, which was also a notable day as Anthony Blunt, British Art Historian and Russian Spy died at the age of 75 and the No1 hit in the UK was the appropriately titled “Is there something I should know” by Duran Duran. He was installed as 1st Principal in 28th October 1989, 22ª October 2005 & 7th December 2012 and held a succession of Offices in the years between including Scribe E from 1994-2002 and again 2018-2022.
He joined Addington Chapter No 1787 (Bucks) in 2011 and Wineslai Chapter No 2435 (Bucks) in 2022. He was 1st Principal of Addington Chapter in 2014 and is currently the DC, He is also Scribe N in Wineslai Chapter.
In the Craft, in Hertfordshire, he was first awarded ProvAGDC in 1993, promoted to PPSGD in 2000, promoted to PPGSuptWks in 2008 and promoted to PPGReg in 2015. In Buckinghamshire, he was awarded PJGD in 2015.
In the Royal Arch, in Hertfordshire, he was appointed PPDepGReg in 1993, promoted to PPGSwdB in 2000 and promoted to PGSN in 2007. In Buckinghamshire, he was awarded PPGSN in 2017.
The MEGS then presented E Comp David with his Certificate and Pin.
